Dexter Balala, is probably in high school by now if not for that one fateful night of May 31, 2002. He was 4 years old then. Coming from Bicol, 28 year old Salvacion Balala and her son Dexter are about to ride a Philtranco bus to Pampanga in Pasay. But unfortunately, Diomedes Talbo grabbed Dexter from his mom and held him hostage with an ice pick as his weapon of choice. It's not clear what his demands were, but he sure wanted to communicate with high ranking officials. He's a crazy lonely man wanting attention for his shortcomings as a poor man with little or no wage. Crazy Talbo stabbed little Dexter with his unusual weapon, the police responded with friendly fire killing both Talbo and Dexter. Dexter's fatal wounds were from 5 bullets, not from the 13 stab wounds by Talbo. Question then was why do the police have to fire that many? Even unauthorized security guard joined in the fire. What a fiasco, there wasn't even crowd and media control.
Again, a repeat of a similiar scenario just happened about a week ago. The infamous Manila Hostage Taking at the Quirino Grandstand by Rolando Mendoza. But then again, this can happen to any country. Though what I'm about to tell you is not about hostage taking, it was still tragic. In Italy there's this Filipino mother who was about to give birth to her child. If it's not for the lack of childbirth medical practices in that area of the world, they could have lived. Professional practice should be reviewed every now and then.

I'm always praying for his soul and family. I'm still blaming those policemen.. I was only grade 6 when it happened.since then, every month i'm remembering him...
Tingnan niyo yung 3:06... naiiyak ako jan... Naaalala ko siya... Siya si Dexter Balala, isang munting anghel na biktima ng maling pagresponde ng pulis sa nangyaring hostage taking nung 2002.. Naiinis ako. Buhay pa dapat siya ngayon. Ilang bala ba naman ang iputok ng mga pulis kaya pati siya natamaan. Iyak ako ng iyak nung nakita ko yung mga larawan nya dito. Bata pako nung nangyari to, kaya akong kamuwang muwang. Pero ngayon naninikip ang dibdib ko sa sakit. Dapat buhay pa siya ngayon!!!

Ngayon ko lang ulit nakita ang little angel na si Dexter Balala. Sayang malaki k na sana ngayon but I guess you are now in a much better place. In the arms of our Almighty God. I was 16 years old when that tragic night happened. Sobrang sakit sa dibdib na makita ang mga pics mo umiiyak ka. I was crying all over and over again.Siguro napakalaki tlaga ng kapabayaan ng ating kapulisan that time dahil kayang kaya naman nilang masave ang bata.Kasi pwede naman nilang barilin na agad nila kahit sa balikat at binti para mabitiwan niya ang bata. But I dont want to blame them anymore even the hostage taker.God always has better plans for all of us, thats why He let that night happen. Just by looking at your pictures baby Dexter I had this urge to hug and kiss you. Tingin ko nga kung nandun ako that time baka inagaw na kita sa hostage taker na yun. Anyways there's no better place here in this world more than in Heaven kung nasaan ka na ngayon. Your memories will always be remebered. I love you little angel Dexter Balala.
I always dream this kid nung unang linggo tong napalabas sa TV. It was so heart breaking and til now whenever I see Facebook posts about parents/adults maltreating kids, this is the first picture gives in my head and that really crushes the hearts of those people who believes that cruelty is around us at all time. God will punish people who has evil minds. This a choice of a person to do such evil things and til this point of time, this kind of story will keep us reminding that we have wasted and keep on wasting lives of those kids and giving mark from them that Human like us is no good for angels like them here on earth.

Grade 5 ako nung nanyare ito. Grabe naawa ako sa bata nun. Then last year nung year 2020, naopen ko ito sa kawork ko and naalala nya din. Grabe ito buhay pa sana siya kung inayos lang sana ng mga police. Tsk

Naghahanap din ako ng video nito pero wala na talagang lumalabas kahit anong search mo. Samantalang live pa to sa saksi at tv patrol nung mga panahong yon.
